But for the people that have purchased a PS4 copy and intend to upgrade it to a PS5 copy, then some light may need to be shed. Is it free? Will it cost money? Is it going to be a troublesome scenario to circumnavigate? We have all the information you need to know.

Here's how to upgrade Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War from a PS4 copy to a PS5 one.
Most developers are generally offering a no-cost switch from PS4 to PS5 to make the transition easy and simple for consumers. Many big games are adopting the ‘free upgrade' philosophy including Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Watch Dogs: Legion, The Witcher 3, and more.
Sadly, unless you purchase the Digital-Only, Cross-Gen Bundle, then you'll have to pay a $10 fee to upgrade your PS4 copy to work on the PS5. Furthermore, if you do have the PS4 version, and do pay the fee to upgrade, then you won't have access to the PS5's exciting new features like ray tracing or shorter loading times.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC will reportedly have more DLC than any COD game ever. The news comes way of prominent Call of Duty insider and leaker, Tom Henderson, who recently took to Twitter to confirm that classic Black Ops maps -- like Jungle, Firing Range, and Summit -- are still coming to the game as free DLC content. In the process of confirming this, Henderson teases that the game's multilayer 'has the most amount of post-launch content in any COD.' Adding to this, Henderson notes that 'there's a lot in the pipeline.'
Unfortunately, this is where the tease ends. There are no further details on just how much DLC there will be or whether it will follow the standard COD DLC format, which is to say, be largely limited to maps, operators, and weapons.
It's also unclear why there's going to be more DLC than normal, especially if the noteworthy content is going to be free. Further, it remains to be seen how intimately this content will tie into Warzone.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is reportedly bricking PS5 consoles, but right now, it appears the issue is incredibly uncommon and Sony is replacing consoles inflicted with the bug. The new COD has been out for close to a month, not just on PS5, but PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC as well. And so far, it hasn't had many issues or major bugs. A content problem? Maybe, but certainly not a bug problem. However, it is apparently and occasionally bricking PS5 consoles, and it's unclear why.
Taking to the Black Ops Cold WarReddit page, one player revealed that their console was recently rendered obsolete by the first-person shooter. According to the Reddit user, the game has been hard-crashing their PS5, and the last time it happened the console permanently broke. Adding to this, they note Black Ops Cold War is the only game that's hard crashed their console, seemingly ruling out the possibility this is an issue solely with the console rather than an issue involving both the game plus the console.
'Well, it's official. Black Ops Cold War has officially bricked my PS5,' said the user. ' The game has hard crashed the entire console, only game that had been crashing for me on the PS5. Now when I turn it on none of my games will load without crashing and when games do start to load up the screen fills up with flickering and glitching pixels before the console goes dead.'
By itself, this incident wouldn't be that noteworthy, however, many players have since chimed in via the replies confirming they've had similar issues with the game, seemingly confirming that this isn't a hoax or a desperate attempt for attention.

The Reddit user adds that the console has been shipped to Sony, who will be providing a direct replacement within two weeks at no cost.
